Review by hotel critic
I recently spent three nights in Appleby, and it was a delightful experience overall, particularly because we brought our dogs along. The house's enclosed garden allowed them to roam safely, which was a huge plus for us as we navigate life on four legs. Mark, our host, was quite helpful, making the check-in process smooth and providing a handy booklet with local recommendations. The house, while a bit dated, met our needs. Spacious rooms featured an adequately stocked kitchen with essential cookware and an electric kettle for those early morning brews. The dining table offered a cozy spot for meals after a day of exploration. The sitting area, equipped with a flat-screen TV, provided a nice retreat at the end of the day. Location-wise, you can’t beat it. Everything you need, from shops to charming pubs, is just a walk away. The quiet atmosphere combined with accessibility to lovely riverside walks made for a peaceful stay. Although the stairs were a bit challenging after enjoying a drink or two, we’d definitely consider returning if we find ourselves in the area again. Thank you, Mark!
